La Casa Alvarado

La Casa Alvarado, also known as the Alvarado Adobe, is a historic adobe structure built in 1840 and located on Old Settlers Lane in Pomona, California. It was declared a historic landmark in 1954 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and has a reputation for being haunted. However, although it designated an historic site, it remains a private home and is NOT open to the public.

It is reputedly haunted by uexplained sounds, that include heavy rushing footsteps heard on seperate occasions by a number of witnesses. Other noises include those of opening and closing drawers and doors.

The apparition of a "large man in black" has been sighted, and caused some distress for the young children living there when Holzer wrote about it in the early 1990's. This was made even more unbearable when an invisible force prevented the parents accessing their bedroom one night when awoken by the childrens screams - "something" heavy seemed to being leaning against the door when they tried desperately to open in.
