Old Kolb Farm

The Old Kolb Farm is a tract of land that had been under development since the American Civil War. In 1986, Katherine and James Tatum moved into their property, which was a new development on Kolb Ridge Court. Their first year passed uneventfully, but from that point they experienced unusual occurences, which led them to believe that their home was haunted.

Phenomena included an apparition of man seen on numerous occassions; the sound of a power drill being used and static electricity; physical tugging of clothing; a bell being rung of its own accord.

The Tatums believed that the haunting could be the result of the Battle of Kolb Farm - fought on June 22nd, 1864, between Union forces under Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker and Confederate forces under Lt. Gen. John B. Hood. The Confederates lost approximately 1,500 men in what was considered "more a one-sided slaughter than a battle".
