Pemberton Hall is a women's residence hall at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. It is registered as a historic landmark, due to its status as the oldest women's college residence hall in the state. Construction of Pemberton Hall was completed in 1909.
It is reputedly haunted by the ghost of a young woman named Mary, who was allegedly bludgeoned to death in the music room on the fourth floor during the early 1900's. It is claimed that her apparition has been sighted, and that unusual occurences are attributed to her.
Other such phenomena include doors being unlocked, televisions switched off and on, and furniture is moved. However, it is also claimed that there are 3 other apparitions at the Hall.
