Nathan Hale Homestead

The Nathan Hale Homestead is a historic home. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and was also known as Deacon Richard Hale House. Connecticut Landmarks operates the house a late 18th-century historic house museum.

Nathan Hale was a spy for the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He was captured by the British and subsequently hanged. His body was not returned and it has never been located. He is considered Connecticut's state hero.

The house is reputedly haunted by members of Nathan Hales family. The apparitions of Deacon Hale (Nathan's father), Joseph Hale (Nathan's brother) and Lydia Carpenter (a family servant of the Hale family) have been sighted.

Phantom footsteps were also reported.
